Västernorrland » RockArt Nämforsen

RockArt Nämforsen is a ”Northern centre for rock carvings” with information on, for example, the rock carvings of Nämforsen. This is an exhibition of both archaeological finds and reconstructions of clothing as well as tools dating from the Stone Age. You will find a film show and a cafeteria with a fantastic view of the cliffs, the river valley and Nämforsen.

The rock carvings
The Nämforsen rock carvings is one of the largest areas of rock carvings in Northern Europe and one of the oldest monumental ’art exhibitions’ in Sweden. Many hitherto unknown figures have been documented here at Nämforsen in the last couple of years.

Everything is contained in one area, mainly on the rocky islands Laxön, Brådön and Notön i the old riverbed. A cultural heritage and a historical sight of international proportions in Ångermanland.
