Fridhem is a Christian centre situated in a beautiful heritage site just outside the centre of Vännäs. Västerbotten’s Rifle Corps, which had had its company and battalion training area at Gumboda moor in Nysätra, was to be moved further south and expanded into a regiment. In 1898 the government decided that it should be located in Vännäs, which became home to Westerbotten’s 1st regiment until 1909. The building that is now a Christian centre housed the officers of this regiment.

We take guests for both short and long stays. Our dormitory in the youth hostel ”Vilostaden” has up to 74 beds divided between 20 rooms, with 1 – 6 beds in each room. There are two fully equipped kitchens as well as shared showers and toilets. 5 of the rooms have their own toilets and one of the rooms is handicap-friendly.

Breakfast and other meals can be ordered for groups of 5 or more by prior arrangement.
