The Grand Tourism Award Fotografiska – a forum for photography Since the opening in May 2010 Fotografiska have managed to become a worldknown attraction in Stockholm. Fotografiska strive to be a vital centre for contemporary photography. The ambition is to exhibit world-renown photographers. The overall aim is to engage and inspire a dialogue on photography via exhibitions, seminars, and courses. In addition to this, Fotografiska works actively toward the acquisition of contemporary photography for a permanent collection. The museum displays four unique main exhibitions and about 20 smaller exhibitions annually. In addition to the main exhibition area, Fotografiska also houses a book and souvenir shop, a restaurant, a photo gallery, and a bar boasting one of Stockholm’s best views. The former customs house with its 2,500 square meters of exhibition space is one of the world's largest museums dedicated to photography with a privileged city view overlooking Stockholm's harbor. In October 2010 Fotografiska was awarded The Grand Tourism Award, only five months after it’s opening. | ![]() |
