Southern Sweden » Landskrona Museum
Landskrona Museum is housed in an 18th-century military barracks in the town centre. Its permanent exhibits focus on local history; the museum also mounts a number of temporary exhibitions. The barracks were part of a breathtakingly ambitious plan to build a completely new town. (See the New Town exhibit.) The Dear Selma exhibit uses Selma Lagerlöf's correspondence with her female friends from the town to give us an insight into the mind of the author-to-be and life in old Landskrona. Landskrona Museum also has a unique archive of advertising history. In the Chamber of Commercials, topical exhibitions are shown, along with a big collection of advertising material including TV and cinema commercials from the last century. Café Nell Walden serves homemade cakes. The museum shop sells useful items of contemporary design. Rothoffska kolonin, the little allotment museum, is a short walk away.
