GNESTA – in the heart of rural Sörmland

Gnesta is a young municipality situated right in the centre of Södermanland. During the winter months, it is home to just over 10,000 people. In the summer, however, the population is much larger, since there are numerous summer homes out in the lovely local countryside.

In Gnesta you can indulge in any number of recreational activities in a charming rural setting that offers adventures of all sorts for all interests and ages, whatever the season.

GNESTA itself is the chief town and administrative centre of the municipality. Gnesta owes much of its history to its importance as a railway town. Indeed, along with the main square, the old station building, which dates back to 1907, is at the very heart of the community. Here, too, are any number of small, picturesque shops and boutiques.

BJÖRNLUNDA
Ten kilometres or so west of Gnesta, by Kyrksjön lake, lies Björnlunda. It is set in gorgeous rolling countryside of mixed farmland and woods.

STJÄRNHOV
About twenty kilometres to the west of Gnesta lies the village of Stjärnhov, beautifully situated on the shore of lake Naten.

LAXNE
Is charmingly situated by the long, narrow Klämmingen lake about 17 kilometres north of Gnesta. Lake Klämmingen is perfect for swimming and boating and long distance ice-skating.
