Kungsbacka is in the middle of Sweden’s west coast just 20 minutes south of Gothenburg. There are many excursions you can on from here and many unique cultural settings where you can sense the tide of history. There are excellent bathing and fishing opportunities along this 80 kmlong coastline and in Lygnern, Halland’s largest lake. Kungsbacka has all the advantages of being a small town in a metropolitan area – everything is close. The town of Kungsbacka dates from the Middle Ages and belonged to Denmark until 1645. Markets have been regularly held in the town since the 14th century and there is still a market held on the town square on the first Thursday of every month. The town centre is characterized by the low wooden buildings from the turn of the last century and Kungsbacka is one of western Sweden’s largest modern commercial centres. The town centre offers shopping in a charming turn of the century setting while the shopping centre Kungsmässan offers modern shopping with some 80 shops under the same roof.
