In the fantastic Bergslagen countryside, full of historic places, we ride in small groups on these wonderful horses. The treks go along forest roads and old lanes that were used for transporting charcoal and iron in times gone by. We may be lucky enough to see birds of prey, cranes, herons, elk and deer and, if we’re really lucky, beaver and lynx. We can arrange basic overnight accommodation, dinner and a bath in a “heitapottur” (hot tub). Nyhyttans islandshästar – Icelandic horses – is authorised by the Swedish Icelandic Horse Association as an Approved Stable, Approved Trekking and Approved Riding School. We are a registered business and fully insured. Nyhyttan is 3km from road 68, which runs between Avesta and Storvik. The cottage was built in the 1800s and has been home to lumberjack and crofters.
